The Hollister VFW Post 9242 is accepting essays for the Patriot Pen Essay Contest, through Nov. 1.

The contest is open to students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade who attend public or private schools, or who are home schooled. Rules and entry forms may be picked up at the County Office of Education, on Fifth Street.

This year’s theme is “What I would Tell America’s Founding Fathers.”

Bob Burnahm is available to speak at interested schools about the contest. Entries should be returned to: Bob Burnham, VFW contest chairman, 860 Marne Dr., Hollister, CA 95023. Details: Bob Burnham at 638-1703.
