Nick Yray was named Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for October 2011.
Nick is a senior program specialist in the Financial Aid Department and has been with the district since 2004. He is responsible for financial aid record processing, data loads, disbursements, email notifications, academic progress reviews and Pell reconciliation. He has established and maintained positive work relationships with key players in processing of financial aid.
Nick has no problem going above and beyond normal procedures when it comes to the success and welfare of students. He often goes out of his way to contact students to make sure their problems are resolved, rather than just assuming that they were taken care of.
He has always been willing to learn new things, which he has demonstrated over and over again while supporting the Banner Financial Aid system. Without his interest and dedication to the details of the system, the Banner implementation would not have been successful. He has repeatedly saved the school time and money by implementing computer procedures to streamline financial aid tasks.

Giancarlo Hernandez was born Oct. 26, 2011 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to Mireya Del Toro and Carlos Hernandez of Hollister. He weighed 7.96 pounds.
