The Hawks dropped their first two games of the week, losing 62-18 to Greenfield on Monday and 62-20 to Lincoln on Tuesday.

The Hawks never led in either game.

The pair of losses moves the Hawks record to 0-4 in the young season.

The Hawks host KIPP Friday at 7 p.m.

Anzar girls basketball

To open the season, the Hawks remained on the losing end for the fifth straight time Tuesday. Anzar fell to Gonzales 39-16, as the Hawks continued to have trouble scoring.

On Monday, the Hawks lost to Greenfield 40-15. The Hawks had four players – Jacqueline Quaresma, Melissa Weckerle, Leslie Martinez and Christina Muirhead – contribute three points. No Hawks scored more than three points in the loss,

The Hawks host Stevenson at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Anzar boys soccer

With five first-half goals, the Salinas soccer team blew away Anzar on Tuesday to win 6-2.

Two goals by Salinas’ Jose Mendoza allowed the Cowboys to pull away and coast in the second half. Anzar scored a goal in both halves, but were unable to establish a consistent offensive push.

The game was originally planned to be against Trinity but a late scheduling changes moved the contest to Salinas and the Cowboys, Anzar athletic director Sam Stewart said. The game against Trinity will be rescheduled for later in the year.

The Hawks travel to Pinewood at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
