San Benito High School students wrote the check for a big donation to a former Baler this month.
The students raised more than $14,000 for Kaylin Dominguez, a 2010 graduate who suffered a seizure in April that caused her to go into cardiac arrest four times and left her with an anoxic brain injury.
The check was presented to Kaylin’s father, Dave Dominguez, on Jan. 8 and he thanked the Associated Student Body for their four months of fundraising efforts.
He mentioned his daughter is now recovering at home and is making “slow but steady progress,” according to an email from Catalina Lemos, the student activities director.
The money will go toward purchasing items that will assist in her recovery. Each year, the school’s ASB selects a beneficiary and organizes a multi-week drive to bring in the cash.
