Citizen wants more leadership on the economic woes

A couple of years ago Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz voted against a proposed Casino resort without bothering to look at the details of the project.
Recently he requested taxpayer dollars for a trip to Reno. Apparently Supervisor De La Cruz only likes Casinos when the jobs, tourist dollars, and tax revenues benefit other communities.
And speaking of jobs, tourist dollars and new tax revenues, I would like to ask Supervisors Reb Monaco and Pat Loe, who are seeking reelection: What have you done for us lately? The unemployment rate in Hollister is at a ridiculous 24 percent.
Are you waiting for 50 percent unemployment?

Sheriff backs Turturici
Dear Editor,
As many of you know, late last year I announced my retirement form the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department.
I started working as a Deputy Sheriff in 1976, and for the next 34 years I have worked to keep this our community safe. I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to serve San Benito County – it has been an experience that has been both rewarding and challenging.
During my 34-year career in law enforcement, my top priority has always been to run an effective and responsible Sheriff’s Department. While I may be retiring as your Sheriff, I still want our Sheriff’s Department to thrive and our neighborhoods to remain safe places to live.
That’s why I’m strongly supporting Pat Turturici to be our next Sheriff. I usually don’t endorse candidates, but this is an important election and the safety of our community is at stake.
Pat is the most experienced candidate running for Sheriff – he has over 25 years of training for the job. In addition to his training with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department, he’s earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He’s also received training from the acclaimed National FBI Academy in Washington D.C.
Pat’s quarter-century of experience has provided him with a tough, no-nonsense attitude towards violent crime – and at the same time has equipped him to understand whether a new policy not only sounds good but would work.
Pat is the right candidate to lead us during these difficult times.
