Air Force Airman Sylvia M. Martinez graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

She is the daughter of Leo Martinez of Hollister and a 2007 graduate of San Benito High School.

Leticia Diaz

Army Reserve Pfc. Leticia Z. Diaz has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, marching, rifle marksmanship, combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

She is the daughter of Leticia Rangel of Gilroy. Diaz graduated in 2006 from Gilroy High School, and received an associate degree in 2008 from Gavilan College.

Bryan Michael Yates

Bryan Michael Yates was named to the dean’s list for spring 2010 at San Diego State University. His academic achievement has placed him in the top 10 percent of his class of all undergraduate majors in the College of Business Administration. Students who maintain this high level of scholarship may be invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honor society for business majors, when they graduate.

Bryan is the son of Michael and Zann Yates of Morgan Hill.
