After two years of courtship, Joshua Weaver proposed to Lindsay Bryant on a hike in the Santa Cruz mountains the day before her birthday.

The happy couple met while working together on their college newspaper The Spartan Daily at San Jose State University, where they both graduated in May 2008 with degrees in journalism. The pair became inseparable after falling in love and sharing an affection for writing, playing outdoors and listening to a lot of live rock ‘n’ roll.

They currently work for MainStreet Media – Weaver as the Gilroy Dispatch’s sports editor and Bryant as Morgan Hill Times’ education and county reporter.

The two will wed at a spring ceremony in Bryant’s hometown of Bakersfield.

Deliah DeLeon and Michael Pelliccione are engaged to be married.

Deliah, daughter of Adam and Susan DeLeon, is a 2005 graduate of Gilroy High School. She is a makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics.

Michael, son of Pete Sigala and Debbie Pelliccione, is a 2003 graduate of Palma High School. He is a funeral director for Darling and Fischer Mortuaries.

The couple, who reside in Gilroy, met playing for the Gilroy Co-Ed Softball league in fall of 2006. After about four years of dating, Michael proposed to Deliah at their favorite restaurant in Saratoga on July 26, 2010. Their wedding will be a formal event in September 2012 with very close family and friends.

Local students make the grade at APU

The following students made the academic Deans’ List at Azusa Pacific University. They join nearly 1,500 other students who were honored for a spring semester 2010 academic standing of a 3.5 or better grade-point average.

Bri Cassara

Bri Cassara was named to the dean’s list at Santa Clara University for the 2009-10 academic year. This distinction is reserved for students who achieved a grade point average in the top 10 percent of their class for the entire year.

Bri is the daughter of Lisa and Ludo Cassara of Gilroy.
