Unable to avenge last month’s five-set loss, the Anzar High girls volleyball fell in four sets (25-17, 20-25, 15-25, 22-25) to Carmel Tuesday night, despite strong numbers yet again by Alex Flores.

Flores finished the match with 13 assists, 14 kills, 14 digs, 3 blocks and 4 service aces for Anzar, which falls to 6-5 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.

Earlier this season on Sept. 30, the Hawks took Game 1 against Carmel in San Juan Bautista, but eventually lost in the fifth and deciding game, 15-11.

Anzar managed to steal Game 1 on Tuesday night as well, but the host Padres won the next three games to take the match.

The Hawks compiled 65 digs in the four-set loss, with Carly Johnson leading the way with 15 digs. Brittany Hogeman added 11 digs, while Jessica Frusetta had nine.

Sydnee Masuen had 18 assists on Tuesday.

Anzar will be back in action, and back at home, on Thursday night against Gonzales. Match time is 6 p.m.
