Hot weather hits South County
As we head into mid-October, we’re right in the middle of a very
warm Indian Summer. It has been very warm down here in South
County. We’ve been in the 90s for several days in a row. Funny, we
had right at a half an inch of rain last week, and now we’re back
in the 90s. Seems my column from last week got lost somewhere in
cyberspace so I’ll update you on a few things from last weeks
column as well.

Birthday wishes to out to Kyla Prunty who celebrated her birthday a few weeks ago. Stan and Jamii Pura hosted a birthday party at their home for Kyla in which many friends and family members attended.
Congratulations to Bailee Nelson on a very successful San Benito County Fair. Seems like Bailee won just about everything there was to win in the swine department. Besides her hog winning the 4-H Championship title, her hog also was named Grand Champion of the fair while Bailee won the highest honors in the showmanship classes as well. No doubt she definitely made her parents, Curt and Nicole Nelson very proud. Good job, Bailee!
South County was saddened last week with the news of the passing of long time resident Ernie Prewett. Ernie was 97 years old. I only had the pleasure of knowing Ernie for about 15 years, but he was one of the nicest, sweetest men I’ve ever known. He will be greatly missed and always fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The San Benito County Cattlewomen hosted their annual fashion show and luncheon last weekend at the San Juan Oaks Country Club. It was another success and it enjoyed by all who attended.
Since Brody is homeschooling this year, we’ve been keeping up to date on current events as one of his subjects. This week we have been paying close attention to the rescue of the miners in Chile. It was really neat to watch the first miner brought up from more then 2,000 feet underground. I can’t even imagine what those guys went through the last 69 days. What a blessing that they survived and have finally been brought home.
Bitterwater Tully School is having their monthly hot lunch this Friday at the school. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Have a great week and be sure to give me a call with any news you’d like to share.
