More than 150 people showed up to listen to a battle between seven San Benito High School rock bands last Saturday. The event is sponsored annually by the Rock Guitar Club. This year’s bands competed for first place and a free recording opportunity with Tool Shed Studios, in Gilroy.
Fugu took first place in the Oct. 2 event. Burned on the Stake came in second and Easy Company took third.
Other bands to perform included Amygdala Maze, One Direction, In Search of Oblivion and Tragic Comeback.
The record studio is run by San Benito High School graduates Brian Gibbs and Forest Wilson, who first offered a free recording session for the winners of the Songwriter’s Slugfest last spring. The pair are graduates of the Berklee School of Music, in Boston.
