The county jobless rate dipped last month by 1.1 percent compared with the 14.7 percent rate in September. It was 14.8 percent in August, according to the state department.
It was another positive sign for a county hit particularly hard by the recession – San Benito in recent years has ranked toward the top of the state’s list of highest foreclosure and unemployment numbers.
The local jobless rate dipped last month, while the statewide unemployment figure stayed the same compared to September, according to the EDD.
With a workforce of about 25,000 residents, there were an estimated 3,400 people without jobs in San Benito County, according to the figures.
The California unemployment rate was 12.4 percent, with 3,000 fewer residents holding jobs compared with the prior month.
The county with the highest unemployment rate in the state was Yuba, at 17.8 percent. The county with the lowest was Marin, at 8 percent.
