The Santana Ranch project has cleared its final hurdle with the
county, after the board of supervisors voted 4-1, with supervisor
Pat Loe dissenting, to approve the development agreement during
Tuesday’s meeting.
The agreement was the final item to go before the board about
the project, and now the developers can plan for construction,
County Administrative Officer Richard Inman said. Santana Ranch is
a 1,092-unit housing project that would span 292 acres near the
intersections of Fairview, Hillcrest and Sunnyslope roads. The
project has been planned since the late ’80s.

The project’s general plan and zoning change was approved on Oct. 26 on the condition that the development agreement was completed. During last month’s meeting the board asked for a monetary security on the completion of low-incoming housing and possible bankruptcy.

During the following week’s negotiations of the document, the two sides agreed it wasn’t necessary and provision in the agreement were already strong, Inman said.

Overall, only small changes were made to the original development agreement presented to the board in October.

“There really wasn’t anything of significance,” Inman said.
