After a week of rain that totaled nearly 2 inches, the National Weather Service expects another storm to pass by this week.
The series of storms that passed through the area since Dec. 17 was less severe than originally projected but it still accumulated two inches of rain. The storm was projected to gather six to 10 inches of rain.
This week, a smaller storm is expected to hit the area Tuesday evening and last into Wednesday afternoon, dropping one to two inches of rain, weather service meteorologist Rick Canepa said. The storm is expected to bring winds up to 20 mph.
“It’s a typical storm,” he said.
Afterward there is sill a slight chance of rain over the New Year’s weekend, but Canepa doesn’t expect rain to fall.
Because of the wet winter, a dry spell is due, he said.
“Good instincts would lean toward a mid-winter dry spell,” Canepa said.
Figures on the amount of rainfall are still being determined and were unavailable before press time.
