HOLLISTER

A power outage with an unknown cause occurred on a rainy Thursday evening that affected 5,261 of Hollister’s PG&E customers.

“The cause is not known at this time,” PG&E spokeswoman Jennifer Zerwer told the Free Lance. “We did an inspection of the sub-station and couldn’t determine the cause.”

The outage occurred at 10:50 p.m. affecting residents in Hollister on the city’s southwest side. Zerwer said that 2,104 of the customers’ power was restored by 11:08 p.m. while the remaining 3,157 customers had to wait until 11:59 p.m. for their service to be restored.

The areas affected were west of Highway 156 including San Juan Bautista and the southwest end of Hollister from Buena Vista Road to Union Road.

Added Zerwer, “We’ll keep monitoring the substation closely.”
