Trek from Sacred Heart to St. Benedict’s a tradition
San Benito County residents of all ages walked from Sacred Heart
Catholic Church on College Street to St. Benedict’s Church on
Fairview Road on Good Friday, April 10, in an annual ritual to
celebrate Easter. Sacred Heart Parish School students in grades 2
through 8 joined parents, school staff and other members of the
parish community for the annual Passion Walk. A couple hundred
children and adults made their way down San Benito Street and up
Nash Road on their way to St. Benedict’s, where the group gathered
in the church for songs and fellowship with Rev. Rudy Ruiz.
Parishioners took turns carrying the cross along the route as
students, families and individuals made the annual trek in under
two hours.
