Thank you for support
Here I go again thanking so many people, after my long (two
trips) stay in the hospital. I am well on the way to recovery.
Thank you everyone for the food that was brought to help with
the meals after I came home; for all the beautiful cards and words
of good wishes; for all the prayers that pulled me through; for all
the wonderful nurses at St. Louise Regional Hospital
– you are the best – and to Dr. Jude Roussere, my surgeon who
gave me the complete confidence to have this surgery.
To my dear, loving and ever-present husband, Ed, and our son and
daughter-in-law, Donnie and Chris Valdez, who were with me all
through the surgery. Also, for everyone’s visits; God love all of
you.
A special thank you to our dear priest, Father Rudy Ruiz, for
making the trip to Gilroy to see me. That meant so very much to Ed
and me.
Thanks to everyone again.

Protest water rate increase
It is important the district’s customers understand their options, and the Proposition 218 process can be confusing. This information applies only to property owners within the Sunnyslope Water District; if you rent and want to express your views, you should contact the property owners.
The proposed rate increases fall under the Proposition 218 process. The increases will pass unless more than half the properties protest; only protest votes are counted. If you support the proposed rate increases, you need do nothing.
If you protest, the protest has to be in writing and each property has one protest vote. File one protest for each property you own. The protest must contain the following: A statement such as “This is a protest against the proposed water rate hike scheduled for a hearing on July 9, 2009;” property address: Enter the correct address of the property that you own in the water district; owner(s) signatures and date: Have ALL the property owners sign and date the protest. If you are not sure, just have everyone you believe is listed as an owner, sign.
Mail or drop off the written protest to: Sunnyslope County Water District, 3570 Airline Hwy., Hollister, CA 95023. The protest must arrive at the water district before the hearing is over on July 9.
Special situations: If the name(s) are not on the tax rolls as the current owner(s) (maybe you are a new owner) you must also supply written evidence that you are owner(s). If you are not sure, call the tax assessor’s office. For other questions, contact the Sunnyslope County Water District.

Senior health care needs to stay
Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the “stimulus” bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of healthcare for senior citizens.
The author of this part of the bill, former Senator and tax evader Tom Daschle, says healthcare reform will not be pain-free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them.
If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember the Senators and Congressmen who have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay, which they are guaranteed for the remainder of their lives, and are not subject to this new law if it passes.
I am so frustrated by the Seante – I’m mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. This program, or lack of it, reminds me of a movie called “Solient Green” with Charleston Heston. If you remember, the movie is great. You know what I mean by suicide at an age where you become a liability to the state and then become the food of the young.
Very interesting movie and made during the ’70s, I think.
What numbers are you – my fellow seniors and what number are your parents? Now I am a liability to the state. Sure sounds more and more like a socialist government.
