A Hollister-based nonprofit is visiting the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House this weekend to encourage children to find their own inner hero.
Called Heroes4Hope, the group has a Catwoman, Supergirl, Miss America, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Spider-Man and Ironman who make special appearances at pediatric hospital wards, charity fundraisers and events supporting special-needs youth to encourage kids to be heroes.
The nonprofit’s four-part message includes the ideas that a hero never gives up, does the right thing, helps others and treats people with respect.
The nonprofit’s founder Mark Preader started the group because he has a special needs child.
“I want to be able to impact and empower all children in any way I can,” he told the Free Lance in an email.
