After 7 years, director will depart for San Jose public access

Avid viewers of Gilroy’s community television station might notice something different March 22.
That’s when Executive Director Suzanne St. John-Crane will end her nearly seven-year career at Community Media Access Partnership and depart for San Jose, where she will hold the same position at that city’s Community Media Access Corporation.
“CMAP has been an incredible training ground for me. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had at CMAP and know that this station will continue to thrive under new leadership,” St. John-Crane said in a press release.
Throughout her time here, St. John-Crane has helped grow the station, allowing residents greater access and overseeing the debut of the station’s four live channels, according to CMAP Board Member Jacqui Carrasco.
“Over the last six years, St. John Crane has been heavily involved in engaging the community in using CMAP as an outlet for publicizing opinions, idea and local events,” wrote Carrasco.
The station broadcasts in Gilroy, Hollister and San Juan Bautista, which has given regional attention to various entities such as Gilroy High School and Kaiser Permanente. But Gilroy has not seen the last of St. John-Crane because she will return a couple of times a month as the program director for Leadership Gilroy beginning next January. This will give her time to stop in and check on her successor, too.
“The search is on for a new executive director to continue the excellent work already in progress and take us to the next level,” said CMAP Board hair Val Jeffery.
