Students board a bus to Maze Middle School at Calaveras Elementary School on the first day August 18.

A threatening message found on the wall of a student restroom at Marguerite Maze Middle School Wednesday allegedly warned the office to evacuate the school Friday because of bomb, according to a press release from the Hollister School District.
The message was reported late in the afternoon Wednesday, according to the release. That evening, police conducted a “thorough and systematic” search of the school and found no threats, according to the statement.
School was in session at all the district’s campuses, including Maze, Thursday. School and district staff plus School Resource Officer Paddy have developed a plan to ensure the safety of students and staff and are prepared to respond to any further threats, according to the statement.
“We want the public to be aware of the threat, and to be informed that actions are being taken to ensure the safety of all,” the press release said.
Maze will be secured by a security detail Thursday night and the entire campus will be searched by police prior to the start of the school day Friday, according to the statement.
