Local boxer wins regional

AVENAL – Antonio Corrales of the Hollister Bulldog Boxing team is on his way to the Nationals. He is 3-0 in the past month in the Junior Olympics league. He recently won the Western Regional in Avenal last Saturday. He knocked out his opponent in the second round of the match to claim the regional championship. He also won the title of Best Boxer of the Night at the regional in Avenal.

Corrales is in the 15-16 year old age class at 132 pounds. He will be boxing at the National Tournament in Marquette, Mich. which takes place June 25th through July 1st.

BMX Pros to hit the stage in Prunedale

PRUNEDALE –National BMX Racing will be at Manzanita BMX Park for the Golden State Nationals and the UCI North American Qualifier in Prunedale May 18-20. There is no charge for spectators, who will also have a chance to meet the Pros.

Friday evening the pre-races will take place. On Saturday the Golden State National No. 1 race will take place. Followed by a BMX clinic given by BMX team Intense/Unbound. On the final day of the weekend, the second Golden State National race will take place.

Soccer sign-ups

HOLLISTER – Hollister’s traveling soccer league, the Hollister Tremors, have fall sign-ups coming up on May 31st. Registration will be at the Briggs Building at Veterans Memorial Park from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The league is for both boys and girls. A copy of birth certificate and a 1-inch, head-shot photograph of the prospective player is required.
