A Watsonville police motorcycle officer sustained minor injuries in an accident with a delivery truck at about 10 a.m. Friday on San Juan Road west of Highway 101, a California Highway Patrol officer confirmed.
The accident was initially reported as involving a CHP motorcycle and semi-truck, but the report was revised to detail how a Watsonville police cop struck a “box car” on San Juan Road in the Watsonville area west of San Miguel Canyon Road, according to Officer Oscar Loza with the Monterey area CHP office.
Loza said the motorcycle was behind vehicles and attempted to pass in an area with a broken yellow line, where passing is permitted. A box truck made a left turn in front of the male officer and the two collided.
The officer sustained a laceration to his foot and was transported to a hospital, Loza said.
The accident remains under investigation.
