Editor,
Hollister has a budget deficit due to individuals like Councilwoman Pauline Valdivia. Now, local charities and local non-profits of Hollister will suffer a loss of planned revenue. The city overspends on security overkill under the umbrella of safety. Reno has less physical security on the street per visiting biker than Hollister does. In Hollister, police officers are so numerous one could throw a bowling ball in four different directions from a stationary point and strike at least three groups of officers.
In Reno, the streets are kept clear with roving fire engines and emergency medical vehicles and patrolled with horses, bicycles and foot patrols. The officers of Reno are also courteous and polite unlike those in Hollister who threaten and harasses bikers on foot with tickets and arrest. After all these years, Hollister fails to learn from cities that know how to do it right.
