Keep the Chickens on the Street and Off the Stoves
Keep the Chickens on the Street and Off the Stoves
Editor,
Chicken lovers of San Benito County – unite! Bring the chickens back to San Juan Bautista. The swallows are returning to San Juan Capistrano, but the chickens are leaving San Juan Bautista. And chickens have been in that wonderful small town since the days of the Spanish padres!
San Juan Bautista’s Paltry Poultry Police are slowly making off with the chickens.
But one of the reasons I and other tourists come to San Juan Bautista is to feed and interact with the chickens.
It’s a lot of fun to watch a proud rooster and his hens and chicks eat hot buttered popcorn.
There is a way to stop the City Council’s nefarious scheme to get rid of chickens. If you have some chickens that need a good home, just bring them to San Juan Bautista and let them go.
After all, there’s no law against letting chickens go.
But there should be a law against deporting chickens to distant ranches! Or to the nearby stew pots.

Is it a slow news day in Hollister or do you always tend to be sensationalistic?
