Dear Editor,
In August 2001, the City of Hollister and the Hollister Recreation Department approached a local family to create a community children’s theater program. Hence Hollister Rainbow Children’s Theatre was born.
Rainbow Theatre is a true community children’s theater program providing a forum for youth to build self esteem through positive theatrical experience, and to present quality, family-oriented entertainment for our community. It’s participants and volunteers are members of the community, and we depend on each other to make our program a success. It is a children’s theater performed by children for children. It is a program that needs you, the community, to support your community’s children.
Rainbow Theatre appreciates all of our patrons for their generosity: San Benito Bank, Bolado Charity, Wells Fargo, Dr. Tritico, Mound’s, Dassel’s, Drapoel, SBC Association of Realtors, Trical Inc., Hollister Auto Body, Round Table, Hitachi, Accurate Accounting, Dean’s Tires, Eagle Mortgage, Tanimasa, Lincoln, White, Abramson, Nino, and especially Doctor Nelson. Hollister Water, Santa Cruz County, Sarah Boyd Andrade, Boy Scout Troop No. 638, Drops That Fly, Dominican Hospital, Diaz Liquors, Heritage Cleaners, Victoria’s, Dick Bruhn, J.N. Abbott, The Free Lance, Pinnacle Newspaper, all anonymous donors and everyone’s continued support.
At Rainbow Theatre, everyone gets a part! No one is turned away from Rainbow Theatre. Many children with disabilities have participated and are always welcome.
We are building children in our community to become better speakers, more confidant, self assured, independent individuals who can work well in a group. It’s all about the kids!
Rainbow Theatre has had over 1,200 participants, 2,400 volunteers and over 25,000 people attended their performances. Now that’s a community theater program! Our summer production “Grease” will be our first adult production! We will also have a children’s cast for “Grease.”
