Hollister – A 17-year-old Hollister teen at a party on Jacaranda Court on Friday night was stabbed twice in what police believe to be a gang-related attempted murder.

Police arrived in the 1700 block of Jacaranda Court just before midnight, where they found the 17-year-old victim with a small stab wound to his left side and another wound to his left elbow, said police spokesman George Ramirez.

The teen was taken to Hazel Hawkins Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries which were not life-threatening, Ramirez said.

The victim told police he was leaving the party on Jacaranda Court when about 10 males, some yelling “Norte,” approached him, Ramirez said. The victim got into a fight with an unidentified Hispanic male, approximately 18-years-old, 5-feet 9-inches tall, 200 pounds with a bald head, who punched him several times before stabbing him, Ramirez said.

“He saw the guy take something out of his pocket and felt something on his side, but he didn’t realize he had been stabbed until later,” he said.

Ramirez said the victim didn’t know who his attacker was and it is unknown whether the victim is involved in a gang or not, he said.

Both Hollister police and San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene. Sheriff deputies found a steak knife in the grass while police officers found another small knife in a driveway, Ramirez said.

Police believe one was used as the weapon but do not know which one, he said.

Detectives have several leads and are doing more interviews, Ramirez said. Anyone with information about the stabbing should contact the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330.
