The Crimson Crusader returns again this weekend the bearer of good news for residents missing the mail box on the corner of Sixth and San Benito streets.

A caller last week dialed up the Red Phone asking what happened to the post office box that used to sit on the corner before the Hollister Redevelopment Agency renovated sidewalks downtown. After the work was done, the mailbox never returned. The Crimson Crusader got ahold of RDA Director Billy Avera who promised to look into problem.

True to his word, Mr. Avera did just that and the Red Phone is happy to report a new post office box is on its way. Avera said the Postal Service should be replacing the box soon.

“I’d like to take the credit, but it actually was Carol,” Avera said referring to his assistant who called the Hollister’s U.S. Post Office to investigate.

“We’ve scheduled it with the Post Office and they’ll be putting it in according to their schedule,” he said. Red Phone was unable to reach anyone at the Post Office.

Thanks for the quick response Billy, you’re off the hook now, but the Red Phone will keep checking to make sure the missing box returns.
