Editor,

After a long and stressful period of time, we finally have an answer about the Infant Program at Gavilan College.

The Infant Program will remain open with a ratio of 4-to-1 infants to teacher.

I am grateful that the room is remaining open. I know that there was a lot to consider in keeping this program alive, but I believe that this was the right decision.

I feel that there are many strong attributes for this program. I would like to point out a couple that I felt were worth battling over:

First, I would like acknowledge the staff at the CDC Center. All the staff shows great professionalism, and great concern for the parents and our children. They put lots of time and effort in helping keep this program open.

Second, for the teacher that will be working in the infant room. This teacher to me is hard to describe because she has so many great qualities. This teacher is wonderful, caring and has a big heart. She loves our babies as if they were her own.

There definitely is no lack of love in this room when she is present. She shows how much she cares by communicating with the parents about what our babies have done each day, and what new things they are exploring. The four of us (parents) are happy to know that our babies will remain in loving arms. Thanks to her for keeping/loving our babies, you made this well worth the battle.

Finally, I would like to thank Gavilan President Steve Kinsella and the Board of Trustees for amending their decision.
