The San Benito baseball team won both of its games Saturday in the Penninsula Classic and improves to 3-0 in the early season.

The Haybalers defeated Burlingame 7-5 and Sequoia 11-5. San Benito will continue tournament play Tuesday at Carlmont and Thursday at Menlo. Both games begin at 3:15 p.m.

“Our bats really came alive in the second game,” said Baler coach Derek Barnes. “We didn’t have any strikeouts, and we had a lot of loud outs.”

After scoring two runs in the first inning and a run in the second inning, the Balers erupted for six runs in the third inning to take a 9-1 lead.

In the first game, San Benito broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with a two-run single by Brett Fulgoni. But Burlingame came back and tied the game. Karson Klauer knocked in Seth Hudson, and Geno Fata grounded out to score a run. Mike Lango retired the last three batters for the save.
