District.

Campbell’s new position comes three months after parents from the school filed a uniform complaint procedure with the district, claiming a yard supervisor on campus was abusing the students, and that Campbell was racist. Campbell said she didn’t know if the complaint was the reason why she was moved, but added that she has been talking to district officials about the job for four years.
“I’m very much looking forward to this job, in fact I’m working on it right now,” she said.
When asked why Campbell was re-assigned, HSD Assistant Superintendent Peter Gutierrez said “to be quite honest, when it comes to matters of moving principals around, that’s really a personnel matter, and I don’t think anyone on the board or here will tell you why.”
HSD Director of Human Resources Bill Jordan said interviews for the Gabilan Hills principal position will begin this Friday, and because Campbell’s new job is an addition to the district, money for her salary will come out of the general fund.
Gabilan Hills parents first brought their concerns about Campbell and the yard supervisor to HSD board members in April. They asked for both of them to be removed from the school. The other target of the complaint, the yard supervisor who allegedly abused the children, was removed from the school yard in May.
Parents who filed the complaint could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Campbell spent two years as principal of Gabilan Hills, and another six as vice principal and a resource teacher. Including her time at Gabilan Hills, Campbell has worked as an educator in Hollister for 32 years, and spent many years as a bilingual teacher.
