Hollister – The San Benito girls golf team came in in first place in the Tri-County Athletic League tournament played on the front nine of the par-36 Gabilan Course at Ridgemark Monday. It was the first time this year that everyone has been consistent with her scores, said coach Mark Tinder.
San Benito scored a 191, Gilroy had a 202, Salinas had a 221 and Live Oak had a 234.
Corryn Pacheco and Megan Smith led the Balers with a score of 45.
“I am very with the steady play of senior Corryn Pacheco,” Tinder said. “She hits her drives straight down the fairway, and she never lets a bad shot upset her thus maintaining a positive attitude. She remains our number one player, and in addition she does her part as team captain to motivate the rest of the team to strive and do their best.”
Senior Johni Kiesewetter has improved her game a lot this year, Tinder said, and made her first appearance with a 49. Rachelle Barrientos shot a 52. The non-qualifying scores were Ashly Cullumber with a 53 and Marissa Gutierrez with a 54.
The next match is against Santa Catalina today at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey. Santa Catalina is the defending TCAL champion.
