Andrea Joseph and Karen Joseph

She settled arguments. She kissed boo-boos. She cheered accomplishments. And she still does.
My mom is the most amazing woman I know and, though I myself am not a mother, I strive to be even a piece of the wonderful woman she is.
Though she was the stronger disciplinarian when my brother and I were kids, she was also the one we’d turn to to wipe away our tears. She took care of two rambunctious kids—three if you count dad—and doled out discipline, devotion and dinner, all while working to help support the family.
As adults, she’s still my mom, but she’s also my friend; one I know I can count on. And I hope she views me in the same light, knowing that whatever she may need now or later, I’ll be there for her. Just as she has always been for me.
I hope I’ve made you proud, Mama. I love you.
