Hollister High recorded one of its best quality wins in baseball Wednesday when it edged host North County 3-2 in nine innings in a non-league affair.

Josh Badillo, who was balked to second base after being walked, eventually scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

The Balers (17-5), ranked 13th in the Central Coast Section, were buoyed by two RBI doubles by Eric Diaz Jr. Diaz doubled Badillo home in the top of the fourth, then knocked in pinch-runner Nick Gonzalez in the top of the sixth after the 9th-ranked Condors (20-6) had gone ahead 2-1.

Diaz pitched the first five innings, then Nathan Rowe worked the next four to earn the win.

It was a nice tune-up for the Balers (8-2 T-CAL), who have to wait a week for their Tri-County Athletic League showdown with 8th-ranked Live Oak, which visits next Wednesday. Baler starting shortstop Nick Ramos is expected to return to face the Acorns (14-5, 8-2).
