Dear Editor:
On Thursday, April 24, I watched government in action. Two county supervisors, one city official from San Juan Bautista, a member at-large and Hollister’s mayor.
Mayor Brian Conroy has supported the seniors through the rating process and is an advocate for senior housing in San Benito County. He made a motion for a continuance on behalf of the Annotti property. No one seemed the least bit interested and it died for lack of a second.
Mr. ªBob) Cruz looked at the seniors in the audience and told us he was our friend; the LAFCO Board was not to blame, and went into a tirade about how the city was at fault. He challenged everyone who spoke in favor of the project, the validity of reasons for the continuance; and was down right rude.
Mr. Cruz is certainly no friend of the seniors. As a public official, his behavior was totally unprofessional. He was rude to the city attorney and owners of the land for the project, and others, all who spoke in favor of the project for us seniors who have been patiently watching and hoping for this project to happen.
Mr. (Richard) Scagliotti, another LAFCO member did not even look at the speakers. He was resting and looked like he was half asleep. Again, where do these elected officials get off being so rude?
Well, I can’t wait any longer. My home is too large. I will be moving to the Lincoln area. But, I will be coming back since my friends are here.
Wake up San Benito County; you need people who care to represent you.
