I am writing this letter to express my thanks to your Sports Editor John Reid.
I want you to know how fortunate we are in this community to have a sports reporter like John Reid that dedicates himself to local sports happenings and local athletes.
John is one of the reasons that makes the hard work and dedication of a young athlete worth all the sweat and pain it takes to compete.
Lately, his coverage of the Hollister Little League has been without a doubt outstanding. It has been very exciting to read the latest news on our local athletes.
The local kids are what John is about and it shows through his detailed coverage of almost each and every pitch. You should see the faces of the kids when they see their name in the paper. These memories are what scrapbooks are made of, that will last a lifetime.
In a world where sports news seems to be on every channel or news talk radio show, local guys like John Reid are few and far between.
If I want to hear about millionaire sports stars, I watch television. If I want to read about the local up-and-coming little stars of our community, I read what John Reid is writing.
