The summer pavement repairs of 49 Hollister roadways is about 15
percent complete and Monday workers from Graniterock will start on
another 21 streets.
The Pavement Management Program was approved by the City Council
in early July as a project to fix the most decayed residential
roadways in Hollister. The 2003 repairs started in early August
with the overall program scheduled to last five years.
The summer pavement repairs of 49 Hollister roadways is about 15 percent complete and Monday workers from Graniterock will start on another 21 streets.

The streets under construction Monday through Sept. 15 include Apricot Lane, Line Street, C Street, B Street, D Street, Homestead Avenue, Central Avenue, Azul Court, Ellis Court, Somme Avenue, Marne Drive, Clearview Drive, Memorial Drive, Sunnyslope Road, Los Altos Drive, Sawtooth Drive, Peach Court, Apple Court and El Toro Drive.
The first two weeks of work on those streets will be minor construction, according to city engineer Luis Aguilar. Then crews will start more intensive repairs.
Aguilar said the city has received about five complaints a day about the Pavement Management Program – down from about 100 complaints a day during last year’s slurry seal repairs.
“We’re sorry for the inconvenience,” Aguilar said. “We’re just trying to make the streets beautiful.”
The work includes saw-cutting of curbs, gutter and sidewalk repair and pavement crack-sealing. It is scheduled to last Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aguilar said any cars parked on sections of the streets marked off during those hours will be towed.
Graniterock was contracted by the city to repair this year’s 49 streets. The cost was projected at $2.3 million. The final work this year is expected to be finished Nov. 11.
