Kathryn Margaret Zuhr, the daughter of Ann and Ken Zuhr, of
Gilroy, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mount Holyoke College in
South Hadley, Mass., in May.
Kathryn Margaret Zuhr, the daughter of Ann and Ken Zuhr, of Gilroy, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., in May.

She received a bachelors degree in mathematics. Spring of her junior year, she participated in semester in mathematics in Budapest, Hungary. This was followed by a National Science Foundation Research Experience Undergraduate (REU) at Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, Ind., during the summer of 2002.

While a Senior at Mount Holyoke, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa for her academic achievement and to associate membership in Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society for mathematics research conducted as an upperclassman. Zuhr also received Honorable Mention in the 2003 Alice T. Schafer Mathematics Prize for undergraduate women sponsored by the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).

In August she will begin doctoral studies in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Elizabeth Anne Zuhr, a graduate of Gilroy High School, graduated from the University of Washington in June. She was awarded a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and in interdisciplinary visual arts (art).

A Dean’s list student every quarter during her four years in Seattle, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa for her academic achievement. She also completed Pre-Med studies. As an undergraduate she completed a semester abroad in Saint Petersburg, Russia, studying Russian language and culture.

The daughter of Ken and Ann Zuhr of Gilroy, she is currently employed at the University of Washington Medical School in Seattle as a Research Associate.
