Motorists heading onto the roadway under the influence of alcohol or drugs should think twice before getting behind the wheel.
Law Enforcement throughout California reminds everyone to “drive sober or get pulled over.” Funding for the California Avoid DUI Campaign is provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who reminds everyone to report drunk drivers and call 9-1-1.
Santa Clara County Avoid the 13 DUI Task Force announced the Independence Day weekend schedule of operations.
Saturation patrols
Friday, July 4: DUI roving saturation patrols will be assigned by police within the City of Santa Clara.
Saturday July 5: DUI roving saturation patrols will be assigned by police within the cities of Mountain View, Palo Alto, Santa Clara and around San Jose State University.
Extra DUI units
Sheriff’s deputies will staff extra DUI units in the cities of Cupertino, Saratoga and Los Altos Hills.
California Highway Patrol Maximum Enforcement Period
CHP will all available officers to the region’s freeways and unincorporated roads beginning 6 p.m. Thursday through midnight Sunday.
