Responsible for raising two children, we as parents teach them
that name-calling is not tolerated. After reading the Free Lance
back issues and especially the last article about Sheriff Hill and
District Attorney Sarsfield, I see where it might be hard to
avoid.
They say that as politicians, they have thick skin. We say,
leave off the ‘skin’; what they are is just thick.

As parents and productive members of this community, we say those two need to understand that we do care when someone is wrongfully charged, like Mr. Orabuena. We do care when the District Attorney’s people are involved with missing evidence, as in the Solorio case. We do care when a victim’s family is treated so badly (Santos.) We do care when a gun-wielding officer kicks in an innocent family’s door in the middle of the night. We do care that the wrong man is arrested, as in the Community Center killing. We do care that there are three unsolved murders. We do care that the District Attorney doesn’t go to court. We do care when our Sheriff is involved in the beating of handcuffed prisoners and we do care if convicted murders are put back out on our streets.
Lastly, we do care when Mr. Sarsfield takes this so lightly as to make jokes about being ‘the flavor of the month’ and that he thought we’d be bored by now with all of his office’s blunders. As long as he doesn’t address these issues and correct his own problems, we should all care. As someone said, this could happen to any of us!
We contemplated signing our names to this letter, but based on the way the District Attorney and the Sheriff treat citizens in this community, we decided on the Citizens Voice and we thank you for this opportunity to honestly speak our minds.”
“What a joke about the plug for county commissioner Ruth Kesler in Citizens Voice. She might as well of wrote it herself. Maybe she did.”
“I really would appreciate it if you could educate your readers about the character, knowledge, experience and principles of the candidates for Governor. I know newspapers often persuade voters or influence their thinking. If you would try to influence our thinking, please be reasonable. Please don’t persuade me into voting for Schwarzenegger because he himself would not hire us if we applied for a campaign manager position in his campaign having no experience. Please don’t persuade me into voting for Bustamante as he is also a part of Davis whom we are recalling.
I see a promising candidate, McClintock. I’m tired of having to vote the lesser of two evils every time (Bustamante vs. Schwarzenegger this time). I think I’m voting for McClintock even though that sends Bustamante to office. I must vote based on who I think qualifies for the job. Please educate me more about McClintock’s knowledge, character and principles so I can make my final decision.”
