With COG to conduct a public seminar on SBC transport policy at
the Veterans Memorial Building on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 4 p.m. to
8 p.m., I think it would be appropriate for your newspaper to
publish an article on the waste in COG’s transit operations and
reveal the truth in transport for local voters and taxpayers.
With COG to conduct a public seminar on SBC transport policy at the Veterans Memorial Building on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., I think it would be appropriate for your newspaper to publish an article on the waste in COG’s transit operations and reveal the truth in transport for local voters and taxpayers.
Last Thursday night’s unanimous decision by COG’s Directors to promulgate a “guaranteed ride home” policy for SBC Van Pool riders flies in the face of reason. Is it hypocrisy to claim to be fighting waste in local government activities while COG enlarges socialist, taxpayer funded transit? What about a guarantee to local taxpayers that COG will abolish taxpayer subsidized transit for a few to the detriment of the many? What about a guarantee that bankrupt small business owners, killed-off by excessive tax burdens imposed to fund insolvent transit operations, will have their bills paid by our local government? What about the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law? How do we justify guarantees for subsidy recipients while expecting small business owners, agribusiness and taxpayers to shoulder 99 percent of the costs to COG’s dysfunctional policy? Caveat Viator!
