The San Benito girls basketball team (2-0) won its second game
of the season Thursday with a 44-32 win at Independence.
The Balers went ahead from the start of the game and were in
charge throughout, despite the 76ers tying the score.

The Balers went ahead from the start of the game and were in charge throughout, despite the 76ers tying the score.

San Benito was up 12-6 at the end of the first quarter and 20-16 at the half. The Balers built up a 32-22 lead after the third quarter.

Trisha Lee led the Balers with 13 points. She scored seven in the first quarter until the 76ers went with a box-one defense.

Jaime Hall had 11 points and Mallorie Wilson and Dani Andrewson both had eight.

The Balers went 20 for 49 from the floor, and the team had 13 assists. San Benito was 4 for 10 from the free throw line. The Balers will play a rematch Saturday at Watsonville, who won both times last year, including in the playoffs.

JV Note: The JV team (1-1) won 31-14. Amanda Boyd had eight points, and Jaime Temperino had six.
