Is it any surprise that the leader of this parade, Paul Grannis, again resorts to name calling and the same old rhetoric. Now Mayor LoBue is to be blamed for LAFCO being sued and a “$56 million lawsuit facing the taxpayers.” If Grannis were paying, he would know that due to contractual obligations the City Attorney advised that the City Council vote to pass the resolution or the city would face a lawsuit. Looks like she was right. Only time and legal rulings will tell if LAFCO had the right to decline the annexation.

Now for my personal attack.

As for your diatribe about comprehending “facts, honest disagreement and (job) approval” if you’re trying to infer that’s what your letters are based on, then why all the name calling, sarcasm and the utter lack of actual facts? You would make it sound like this is all business and in the best interest of the people of Hollister, but your continuous (almost weekly) need to publicly criticize and name call shows that this is not business, but a juvenile and emotional attempt to continually show the voters that they were wrong and made a huge mistake by not voting for you.

Libertarian Candidate

David Eaton, the Libertarian Candidate For California State Senate,

District 12, ran against Jeff Denham, Republican and Rusty Areias, Democrat.

The Democrats ran their own misleading campaign tactics, which the

Pinnacle failed to mention.

Anyone can go to the David Eaton For State Senate Website and read the

following: “Recently a great many of you have received unsolicited and unwanted

recorded and live campaign phone ads. I just want to go on record that I

have had nothing to do with these ads. The California Correctional Peace

Officers Association (CCPOA) and another police union have spent $147,000 on the phone banks that send out these annoying ads. The CCPOA supports the Democrat party’s candidate and has spent all that money on my campaign to draw away votes from the Republican candidate so that their candidate has a better chance of winning the election.” David Eaton.

The Libertarian Candidate received 6,680 votes, due in part because

Democrat backed PAC’s spent $147,000 on his campaign. I have seen the Democrats practicing more dirty politics then the Republicans or Libertarians or Greens or anyone in this campaign. They just do it behind the scene. I am glad they lost the majority in the US Senate and could not regain the US House. This election made me more aware of the “win at any cost” underhanded Democrat mentality.

I’ve fallen and it’s not funny

We’ve all seen those TV ads by the company that promises to send immediate

help to a subscriber who simply presses a button on a necklace.

My mother’s electricity went out from the storm a week ago. While she was walking across her family room, she had a massive stroke and fell. She spent 25 hours on the floor. It took that long to get a response.

Turns out the necklace transmitters don’t work if the house power is off!

The company seems to forget to tell its customers that.

Now the other side

The embroiled battle over the 12th State Senate District seat between Rusty Areias and Jeff Denham has got me to thinking a lot about potholders and my family’s move from San Jose to Gilroy.

One crisp October afternoon our doorbell rang and mom excused herself from cooking to answer it. Ma returned with twinkling eyes and a potholder dangling from her finger. Ma said Rusty Areias is running for office, talked about the issues, and these little potholders are to remember him on Election Day.

Flash forward many years later as I rear my own youngsters in Hollister, which we chose for the quality of life. This beautiful town reminded me of how Gilroy used to be. The preservation of the beauty of this county is something that my husband and I have strong convictions about.

When election time rolled around this year, and day after day we pawed nasty campaign propaganda out of our mailbox, one thing was for certain. We were

not going to vote for Denham. We began a discussion about Denham’s dirty campaign tactics, and then I conveyed the story to my husband about Areias’s door-to-door campaign and the potholder.

After research, we decided that Areias was our candidate, the one with the best interest of the citizens of the 12th State Senate District at heart. Last week when I opened The Pinnacle, I was horrified to read that Denham may get elected after all.

I remembered the potholder that mom used for years. She may have burned a lot of meals, but she never burned her fingers – like Areias has protected San Benito County well.

I am terrified that if Denham does indeed win the 12th District State Senate Seat, it will be all of us that will get burned.

Jeff Denham is obviously a heinous criminal, because he promotes traditional American values, and opposes our being turned into an atheist state, enslaved to the precepts of communism. Revealing pertinent truths about anyone running for public office is not negative, but informative.

Rusty Areias’ laudable efforts to get Benitoite accepted as the state gemstone is economically irrelevant, unlike Denham’s priority of the advancement of the well-being of the people of this County.

Denham is not ‘anti-choice’; he is pro choice. His policies give us the choice of how to spend our money, of how to educate our children, of how to promote our businesses, not controlled by socialist politicians. Voters less conversant with political jargon may not know that by ‘anti-choice’ you simply mean ‘anti unrestricted abortion’. Like 80 percent of American voters, Denham is pro life, opposed to a woman’s unrestricted right to kill her unborn child.

Is Denham homophobic? If he believes that people should not get the benefits of being a ‘disadvantaged minority’ because they are gay, all praise to him. It is not for the citizens of San Benito County to prioritize any one because of self- proclaimed sexual preference. Denham is accused of suffering from a psychological abnormality simply because he dared to express a traditional value.

Jeff Denham knows what his moral position is, and does not have to await the results of an opinion poll to decide what moral beliefs he should profess to gain the greatest political advantage.

Definition of Marriage

It is not “hateful” to believe that the definition of marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman should be affirmed. In thousands of years of Western civilization has this definition ever before been disputed? All over the planet, people of good will, including Orthodox Jews, Muslims, and the vast majority of Christians, believe in the traditional definition of marriage. Over 60 percent of California voters voted for the traditional definition of marriage when it was on the ballot. Are all these people “hateful”? It is a common tactic of the left to demonize those who don’t agree with them, and you have regrettably made use of this tactic. In the future, please be more tolerant of the diversity of opinion in San Benito County.
