As expected, Hollister High was awarded the No. 3 seed in the Central Coast Section Division I volleyball playoffs when the 10-team field was announced Saturday.

The Balers (29-4) play a familiar foe when they take on No. 6 seed Live Oak (31-6) Saturday at North Salinas High at 11 a.m.

The Balers have defeated the Acorns four times this year.

“They’re one of the few teams who have taken a game against us,” said Baler coach Larry Nabzeska. With a victory, the Balers would most likely meet No. 2 seed Archbishop Mitty (29-4) on Nov. 21 at Santa Clara in a semi. The D-I title game is Nov. 23 at West Valley College at 7 p.m. St. Francis (23-1), the No. 1 team in the nation, holds the No. 1 seed.

Anzar High (23-11) was presented a big surprise when it received the No. 1 seed in Division V. The Hawks get a bye into the semifinals in the six-team field and play the Liberty Baptist Redwood Christian winner on Nov. 21 at Mitty High.
