Garden railroaders are sounding the whistle for everyone to climb aboard the annual Garden Railroad Tour winding through Gilroy, Morgan Hill and Hollister Aug. 16. The tour, in which train enthusiasts open their homes to collect food for the hungry in local communities, is presented by the Bay Area Railroad Society and South County Railroaders.
Eight families around the area have agreed to open their homes this year, to show off their model railroads to the public and help feed the needy.
Visitors are asked to bring a donation of nonperishable food or money when they pick up a guide book from Garden Accents in Gilroy or BookSmart in Morgan Hill. Donations will be given to St. Joseph’s Family Center and the Community Pantry.
The annual Garden Railroad Tour will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 16. For more information, contact Dale at (408) 848-1440 or Dave at (408) 842-1843.
