Local scouts are shown at the 2014 parade in Hollister.

This year, the San Benito County Veterans of Foreign Wars awarded the San Benito District Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with a first place ribbon for being the most “Patriotic Youth Organization” in the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11, according to an announcement.
According to the announcement:
There were more than 130 scouts and leaders along with many parent volunteers and siblings that marched and showed their patriotism and respect for our military service men and women. The scout units filled the parade route, which traveled through downtown Hollister, with each unit proudly displaying their American flag and their own unit flag. As the scouts and leaders marched by veterans, an honorable salute was given to each and every one of them. Many units shouted out “scout cheers”, which brought applause from the crowd. A special thanks goes out to all that participated; Troops 400, 428,436, 455, 787 and Packs 408, 444, 455, 777. Article submitted by: Camille Blevins, District Parade Coordinator.
