Police on Thursday arrested a 35-year-old Hollister man suspected of stabbing an unidentified 34-year-old Hollister man in the eye, according to police.

Police arrested Jacob L. Arballo at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Santa Ana Road. He was booked at the San Benito County Jail on charges alleging assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious injury and mayhem. His bail was set at $180,000, according to police.

Arballo had fled the scene after the reported stabbing occurred, shortly after midnight, and was arrested later that evening in the same area. The victim was flown to a Bay Area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. His status is unclear.

According to the statement about the incident: “At about 12:20 a.m. Hollister Police Officer Luis Toribio was dispatched to a call of a person stabbed in the eye. Upon arrival, Officer Toribio contacted a 34-year-old male that was covering the area around his left eye. Blood was streaming down his face and he confirmed he had been in an argument with Jacob Leonard Arballo. The victim claimed Arballo stabbed him in the eye with a weapon and fled the area.”
