Police had their hands full bright and early at 3:14 a.m. Saturday when officers responded to reports of a physical fight involving multiple subjects on the 800 block of East Eighth Street in Gilroy, according to a GPD press release. The suspect is still outstanding.
Officers arrived at the scene and located two victims suffering from stab wounds, reports Sgt. Pedro Espinoza. The first victim, a 24-year-old male from Grass Valley, suffered multiple life-threatening stab wounds and was transported to a South Bay trauma center where he is listed in critical condition. The second victim, a 23-year-old male who lives in Gilroy, also sustained multiple non-life threatening stab wounds. He was treated at a local hospital and released shortly after, according to Espinoza.
GPD Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene, where they assumed the investigation that is still ongoing. Detectives are currently following up on leads to determine a motive and location of the outstanding suspect, according to the press release. Espinoza reports the incident does not appear to have been motivated by gang affiliation.
