While winter has yet to arrive in San Benito County, the rain is already on its way.

A short heat wave warmed the region last week, but cooler temperatures returned soon after with midweek temperatures dipping to the upper 60s.

Lower temperatures are expected at the end of the week with a storm system set to bring rain to the area.

“It shouldn’t reach Hollister until probably late Thursday night,” said Anna Schneider, meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “It’ll be a light drizzle, then gets into steadier rain as we get into Saturday and Sunday.”

Forecasters said residents could expect around 0.25 inches of rain from Thursday Nov. 2 to Sunday Nov. 5.

Average precipitation for Hollister in October is 0.69 inches, according to the weather service.
