Editor,

Thank you, Free Lance, for offering a voice of reason regarding development in a county suffering from unrest and animosity in a state of political disarray. What would this community be like if people stopped beating up each other and started working together?

DMB, the company proposing the development known as El Rancho San Benito, offers a breath of fresh air in their reasonable approach. They are inviting the community of join in and express their views. Yes, there will be some nay sayers who will simply yell, “Profit mongers!” Well, I’m a business owner and my goal is exactly that: to make a profit. While making that profit, I provide a valuable set of services to my clientele.

By reaching out to the entire community and inviting us to join them in planning their project, they are providing a service we have been lacking: leadership in planning for our future. Their project appears sound and in a location that will benefit San Benito County while not unreasonably affecting our central infrastructure.

Yes, DMB will profit. So, too, will San Benito County’s next generation.
