Fires continue burning throughout California
Mark Conrad of San Benito County shot these photos of a wildfire
burning off Santa Teresa Boulevard, near Masten Avenue in Morgan
Hill, Sunday night. A lightning storm in Northern California
Saturday touched off fires across the state, further burdening
firefighting crews already working to contain several stubborn
fires throughout California. A fire thought to be touched off by a
motorist’s hot exhaust system burned 10 homes in Santa Cruz County
June 20, and resulted in overnight closure of northbound Hwy. 1
near Aptos. Lightning fires closed westbound Hwy. 152 Saturday.
Statewide, some 800 fires were burning as of midweek.
