By 1:45 p.m. Thursday, there were eight accidents on U.S. Highway 101 locally, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Uvas Creek crossing, which runs across Miller Avenue between Santa Teresa Boulevard and Uvas Park Drive, has been closed since Monday due to storms.

Between 9 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Thursday, 0.35 inches of rain had fallen on Gilroy, according to the Gilroy Fire Department Chestnut Station. The precipitation added to the 0.55 inches that soaked the city in the previous 24 hours, GFD Heinz Maibaum said.
